Core Audio Not Available Mac Garageband Update
See status of newer Mac OS versions below. Intel® Core™ Duo processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or Core i3 or better recommended) 2 GB RAM (4 GB or more recommended) Windows® Windows 7 x64 SP1, Windows 8 x64, Windows 10 x64; Intel Core Duo or AMD Athlon™ X2 processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X4 or better recommended). Mac / Connectivity via Thunderbolt – Not all units on this list have thunderbolt audio interface mac protocols, so this is a huge bonus. 2×6 Audio Interface with Thunderbolt connectivity; Sleek design and high build quality; Built-in Talkback microphone for easy communication between the engineer and the musician. After installing macOS Mojave or later on your Mac, you might not be able to record audio in apps like Logic Pro, MainStage, GarageBand, Final Cut Pro, or third-party audio and video apps. After installing macOS Mojave or later, you might see an alert that says audio input isn't accessible when trying to record. Just to see if something is wrong with Garageband or the whole Core Audio system. To record with quicktime, you have to go to system preferences sound, and change the audio source to Line-in. Then go to quicktime and select 'New Audio Recording'. I think you will need the pro version for this.

What Is Core Audio On Mac
Is this something to do with the fact I installed Pro Tools? (Even though I took it off again) Or is it because you can't use Digidesign hardware with Garageband? Or something else?
'The application Garageband quit unexpectedly' (Even though it hadn't opened - still 'initialising')
Final question... is there any way to uninstall Garageband, then re-install?
Thanks in advance.

When I went to purchases in the app store to reinstall, the button still said 'open.
Have you refreshed the Purchases tab with ⌘R after deleting GarageBand? Otherwise it may not be showing as uninstalled.
If you reloaded the AppStore, and it still is showing 'Open'the try to find out, why Spotlight is still seeing GarageBand as installed. Check the Applications folder, if you just dragged an alias to the Trash. Or if you have a copy of GarageBand on a connected backup drive?

Which version of GarageBand have you been using? GarageBand 10 is now free. You can reinstall by purchaseing it for free from the main page of the AppStore.
